Dave Lewis
Registrar
I was first introduced to radio control flight in 1973, a 2 Channel Glider (AeroFlyte Trident) and I mainly flew in the local park (as we did back then). But like most teens I found beer, cars and girls far more interesting.
I am a qualified motor mechanic but ended up mainly in Sales and Administration roles when I got out of the trade.
I have spent the last 20 years in Training Roles mainly, in the Hire Industry but also spent some time doing Spray Painting and Paintless Dent Removal. Currently I’m a Business Services and Training Manager.
I’ve also spent 21 Years in the Army Reserve, where I rose to the lofty rank of Corporal (all the best dictators were Corporals!) as Mechanic on Armoured Personnel Carriers. I also used to shoot pistols competitively – but got back in to radio controlled flight in 1994 (far more family friendly).
I learnt to fly with the late Michael Robinson at Werrington Park. I even did some full size 1 to 1 Scale flying with him (before the Bad Fuel Fiasco priced every one out of the game). Been on the Executive of Werro (Werrington Park Club) for 20 Years.
I started as Assistant Secretary for MASNSW, then Webmaster, and then became Registrar a couple of years ago.
I enjoy Flying Fixed Wing – Stand (LONG WAY) Off Scale and recently I’ve been trying to learn Rotary Wing. I enjoy painting aircraft in 2 Pak. I painted a 1/3 Scale Space Walker for the Robbo.
Unfortunately I really don’t have time to build – so its either ARF or doing up 2nd hand aircraft for me.
